Individually tailored lessons available in piano, keyboard, accordion, vocals, guitar, songwriting, composition and theory. Lessons may include classical, contemporary and improvised material, with an emphasis on developing technique, creativity, confidence and enjoyment.
I combine my skills as performer, composer, music therapist and musical director to facilitate learning, expression, growth and artistry through music and the arts.
I learnt piano the old school way, with a very strict nun who passionately guided all her students towards top marks in their AMEB (Australian Music Examination Board) exams. She also steered me towards studying Music Therapy, which I did, completing a Bachelor of Music (Therapy) at the University of Melbourne in 1994, the only course of its kind in Australia at the time. I also hold a Graduate Diploma of Education (Secondary Music) from Notre Dame Sydney and UNE Armidale and have studied Music Industry Skills, Jazz Piano Studies, Dramatic Art and Theatre Performance & Practice in Northern NSW. I have taught music for over 20 years in adult education, secondary schools, primary schools, kindergartens and home studio. I currently teach keyboard, vocals, accordion and ukulele at Shearwater Steiner School Mullumbimby NSW and in my home studio in Northern NSW.
